Ike Sway

The Story

Ike Sway is a 20-year veteran of the specialty coffee industry — someone who has spent two decades learning, building, and sharing what makes a truly great cup of coffee. He brings that expertise to every event and training session with warmth, clarity, and a genuine love of the craft.

Ike's coffee journey began at Peet's Coffee in Brookline Village, where he first fell in love with the "third place" that cafés offer to a community — that rare space between home and work where people slow down, connect, and linger over something delicious. That early experience planted a seed that would grow into a career.

Closer to his hometown of Wayland, MA, Ike became café manager and barista trainer at Karma Coffee Roasters, where he developed his management skills and gained deep insight into the roasting and wholesale sides of the industry. He went on to co-found Haute Coffee in Concord, MA — a specialty café and proud purveyor of Counter Culture coffee.

Most recently, Ike served as café manager at Ride Studio Cafe in Lexington, MA — a distinctive dual-retail space combining a specialty coffee program with a custom bicycle shop. There, he trained staff, managed a multi-roaster program, and collaborated with regional roasters to develop custom blends for the café.

Today, Ike works as a sole proprietor under Coffee by Ike, hosting coffee tastings, training sessions, and educational events for businesses, schools, libraries, and individuals throughout the greater Boston area. His goal is simple: to deepen and enrich your relationship with coffee — wherever you are on that journey.

Recent highlights include several well-attended public coffee tastings at the Fowler and main branches of the Free Public Library in Concord, MA, where Ike guided a room full of curious adults through a selection of pour-over coffees, exploring the differences in origin, preparation, and flavor. It’s exactly the kind of event he loves most: accessible, engaging, and genuinely fun.
